If you are looking forward to making roti or flatbread for the very first time, I will make sure, reading this blog will solve all your queries. So in this blog, I will share how to make fluffy and soft Roti or Flatbread.

Roti Or Flatbread Fluffy and Soft

Ingredients For Making Roti Or Flatbread

    • Wheat flour
    • Water

You need to have some specific utensils for making rotis as a metal-made flat pan or tava if you don't have this no need to worry you can easily make rotis in a regular frying pan too. The important tools that you need to make rotis are tongs (chimta) and last but not least, the rolling board & rolling pin(Chakla Belan). If u don't have a rolling board use your kitchen platform in place of the rolling board ...please don't forget to clean it before using it.

ok so now we  have all the required essentials to make rotis or flatbread and now we'll make it out

    Preparation of Dough

Making rotis will start with preparing the dough and for that, we pour four tablespoons approximately 250 gm of Wheat flour into a bowl. You can take more than this as per your need. Four tablespoons for 7 or 8 rotis is appropriate.

Now have to pour some water into d bowl of flour attentively. It should neither be liquidized much as a batter of Dosa nor be tight as stone... consistency of the dough must be soft so it can be handled easily. Mix it well by hand not by spoon so that you can make it soft by mixing it again and again with the help of your hands.

you know my dadi (grandmother) tends to mix it with both hands till the dough becomes extremely soft.

remember one thing preparing the dough for roti is not going to be easy if you are making it the first time you may feel exhausted but have patience ...because great things required your patience.

    Rolling of Roti

After that let this dough rest for about ten minutes. After these minutes separate a handful of dough from the rest of the dough for making it flat with the help of a rolling pin on the rolling board or on the platform. You need to have some flour in dry form for dusting because making rotis is not possible without dusting you may use all-purpose flour too for dusting but using wheat flour is suggested for ultimate taste.

That separated dough must be handled gently make it a sphere with the help of the palm then make it flat with another palm, place it on the board, take a rolling pin on it, and start rubbing gently if it is sticking on the board do dusting and again start rubbing more gently. Remember one thing it should not be holed or stickled one layer to another it has to be round, flat, smooth, sticking-free, and thin so handle it with care.

    Cooking of Roti

Once your flatbread is prepared on the board place it on the tava which you already have heated up ...within a minute turn it on another side so that the upper part too can be cooked...you will observe some bubbling on the surface of the roti just check it once if the lower part of the roti is becoming reddish if it is done then put your tava off from the flame and that more reddish part of roti has to put on the flame directly you'll see roti is looking like a balloon because it is becoming vaporized and fully cooked consequently....so enjoy your roti now. You can eat it with curry, daal, sweets, curd, milk, or whatsoever u want.
