Elaichi or Cardamom is one of the major spices from the list of Indian spices, it is enshrined in both lists ie: of hot spices used in various Indian recipes including curries, beverages, rice recipes, and sweet dishes, and in cool spices used mainly in pickles and kalonji.     Types of Elaichi or Cardamom

    There are only two types of cardamom cultivated in the whole world. Both have different appearances, tastes, and uses, come I will talk about both types today.

In our Indian cuisine, Green Cardamom is used in preparing spices, rice dishes, and beverages including chay sharbat, Lassi, and many more refreshing sips. , Apart from its rich taste and aroma, it has ample medicinal properties as listed below.

It has several medicinal properties, as described in Sushrut Samhita. Black Cardamom had been used for medicinal purposes since the 6 century BC.

     There are no sufficient studies taken place with certified result regarding the advantage and disadvantage of consuming cardamom during pregnancy, some says, there is no harm to consume it while pregnancy even though it may be helpful to cure morning sickness and nausea during pregnancy but some restrict its consumption during pregnancy cause it may lead miscarriage or bleeding, so better is to consult to your gynecologist regarding this and be safe.

     No doubt in this fact that cardamom is a damn useful natural product, it is not less than a bonanza by God's grace if used cognitively, because each body reacts differently to any of the products even if it is natural or man-made, so needs to focus on these points too in order to avail only goodies. 

    We should consider its side effects that might be possible if taken inappropriate way...  Some side effects of Cardamom are listed below


    • Though it is a natural product so by and large it is not harmful to anyone but It might be allergic to those whose body reacts negatively to the extracted enzymes of cardamom.
    • Skin allergy mostly dramatizes and hives.

  1. Respiratory allergies like tightness in the chest and shortness of breath
    • Stomach pain or pain in the gall bladder is usually diagnosed in those, who have a stone in the bladder or have another problem related to the bladder. It is the most diagnosed problem related to black Cardamom particularly.

    It doesn't mean that you should stop eating it, as everybody knows the practice of anything must be in the limited and prescribed amount otherwise it might be harmful, the same thing applies here too.
